Two opposing sides of Ubuntu

Ubuntu Satanic Edition's log-on screen Some might already have heard of Ubuntu Christian Edition, but I guess almost no-one are familiar with Ubuntu Satanic Edition!

Ubuntu Christian Edition is the current Ubuntu release, re-branded in a more Jesus friendly way made specially for Christian organisations. With extra support and added Christian values.

The later is not much more than a mere theme for Ubuntu Edgy Eft. But it is still really cool that someone actually made flaming, and devilish alternate to the Christian Edition of Ubuntu!

Ubuntu SE is not currently a distro, its more a series of themes to transform the look of Ubuntu. You must first download and install one of the standard Ubuntu variants and then upgrade to Ubuntu SE. Dont worry; you can easily change your system back if you intend to recant.

If you would like to try something different with you desktop, I suggest you give Ubuntu Satanic Edition a try. Here are the installation instructions.

Why the hell on earth would someone have a linux distro focusing on a religion or a belief?

Just use a regular Ubuntu installation…

I would reckon that a specifically Christian install CD is easier to advocate within Churches and so on. Also the free software for Christians is actually better, having that already on the disk is an added bonus I suppose.

Personally I cannot see why anyone would want it. But I wrote about it as it has seemed to become so popular over the last months.

And the Satanic edition really is nothing more than an attempt to mock the Christian edition, I think.

But Zeth's got a good point with the Churches. It would be easier to marked free software to them if Jesus where on the cover.
